About THN

Built by a fan, for fans

Tar Heel Nation grew from an independent social account into a publication serving a community of more than 48,000 followers. It covers games, recruiting, schedules and the issues shaping North Carolina athletics from a knowledgeable pro-Carolina perspective.

Independence and ownership

Tar Heel Nation is independently owned and operated. It is not part of UNC Athletics, the University, the Rams Club, the ACC or any media company that covers them. Follows, replies, reposts, access or interaction from university employees or representatives do not constitute sponsorship, approval or editorial control.

Tar Heel Nation is an independent sports publication and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Our visual identity

THN uses its own wordmark, monogram, layout and editorial design. The site does not use UNC’s interlocking-NC logo, Tar Heel foot, Rameses, argyle pattern or other official university artwork. Team and university names are used only to identify the subjects of editorial coverage.

How we work
